It's June of 2015 and this garden is 1 year old. It is so lovely to see this garden begin to grow into itself. We love how the wild and naturalistic plantings border up with the graphic lines of the hardscape.

This new garden is ready to be showcased!

The first on the block, this house showcases just how beautiful a front yard can be without the unnecessary lawn.

Once one enters the garden they walk through the stripes surrounded by prairie and onto the enclosed front porch.

The boulders existed when we began the project. The prairie existed on this site before a house was ever here. We have decided to combine nature with this build environment.

Each part of the season has a plethora of blooms to enjoy in the red, yellow, orange, and light blue color range.

These strong textures against bold red color create texture within the garden. These fun shapes give the garden a thematic feel.

We have utilized the existing pathway by extending the stripes outwards to create texture on the ground plane of the garden.

In addition to the flagstone element of the stripes, these ground covers will create a green stripe as the garden matures. We are very excited to see it fill in.

When every front yard is a lawn, how truly interesting can yours be? Not only is a front lawn the most wasteful use of water because it is rare that people use them, it is also common. By reclaiming this front yard back to a beautiful garden space, this home has saved water, reduced their use of herbicides, added blooms for pollinators, and decreased their time spent in the garden. Wins all around!
